"The Multiverse is life or death," Stephen Strange is heard saying in a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, the sequel serves as a continuation of the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the stability of the universe was severely affected following the botched spell that summoned the arachnids and villains of past franchises.

The trailer shows a bit more about the conversation between Doctor Strange (Cumberbatch) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). "We can take the help of an Avenger," he tells her, to which she replies, "There are other Avengers." 

The sorcerer promises that they will soon return from this mission and convinces her to join this adventure that will address the chaos in the Multiverse. Later on, Scarlet Witch is shown fighting alongside Wong (Benedict Wong) against unknown forces.

Likewise, Chiwetel Ejiofor can be seen back as Baron Mordo and who would be Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) using powers very similar to those of Captain Marvel. Xochitl Gomez, the 15-year-old actress, also makes an appearance as America Chavez, the member of the Young Avengers who will mark her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Doctor Strange Sequel Will Connect With Other Marvel Titles

Doctor Strange 2 will connect the third installment of Spider-Man and the series WandaVision and Loki, both released in 2020 through Disney +. Why these last two? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was directed by Sam Raimi, the filmmaker behind the first Spider-Man trilogy, from a script by Michael Waldron (creator of Loki). The main cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. 

In addition, it is speculated that there will be a cameo by Patrick Stewart, known for playing Charles Xavier in the X-Men cinematic universe, and his appearance would introduce mutants in the narrative line of the Avengers.
