It's Official: Keanu Reeves is to star in Erik Larson's Devil in the White City adaptation for Hulu! This will be a huge step for him in the world of television, with a project produced by none other than Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio! The series is based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Erik Larson, which tells the story of Daniel Burnham, architect of the iconic 1893 EXPO, and serial killer HH Holmes. The devil and the white city (this is the Italian title of the work) received widely favorable reviews at its release and became a New York Times bestseller, obtaining numerous awards.

The series has been on standby for more than a decade, since Leonardo DiCaprio acquired the rights to the novel, with the intention of turning it into a film. Martin Scorsese was supposed to direct the film with Paramount Pictures production, but plans changed when the two took the project to Hulu to turn it into a TV series. After this long development cycle, it finally looks like the show is making great progress, and with a major star!
Deadline reports that Keanu Reeves has been officially cast as the protagonist of the Devil in the White City series. The project will be the first major American television role for The Matrix star who, early in her career, starred in numerous TV films and also appeared in the Swedish-American web series Swedish Dicks. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio will be executive producers. At the moment, no shooting start date has been set.
