The Serpent Queen
The first trailer of The Serpent Queen is finally available, the eight-episode television series dedicated to Queen Catherine de 'Medici and her accession to the throne of France. The series will be released on Starzplay starting September 11. The protagonist of the series will be Samantha Morton, already a winner of a Golden Globe and twice nominated for an Oscar. Based on Leonie Frieda's book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France, The Serpent Queen is written and produced by Justin Haythe (Revolutionary Road, Red Sparrow). Stacie Passon (Transparent, Dickinson, Billions) directs multiple episodes, including the first.
The series is produced by Francis Lawrence (the director behind three of the four Hunger Games) and Erwin Stoff (Matrix, 13 Hours, Edge of Tomorrow). The eight-episode series is produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
