Kate Winslet stopped an interview to comfort a panicked young interviewer.
Kate Winslet's press tour for the blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water had several memorable moments, but few came close to the one that went viral in the last few hours. The famous Titanic actress interrupted an interview to give a hand to the young journalist who was interviewing her, evidently in a panic because of her at her first interview (and with which star in front of her!). Winslet thus decided to motivate the interviewer during an international press conference. A video that appeared on Twitter – which has exceeded 1 million views in less than 24 hours – reveals the words of encouragement that the actress has reserved for the journalist.
Kate Winslet was interviewed for the German television network ZDF. In the video we hear the young journalist say to the Oscar winner, a little hesitant, "This is my first time". Winslet widens her eyes and immediately interrupts the interview, approaching the journalist.
"Is the first time? Okay, guess what? When we do this interview, it will be the most amazing interview ever. And do you know why? Because we have decided that it will. So, we decided right now, you and I, that this is going to be a really great interview. You can ask me anything you want and you don't have to be afraid. It will be great. Okay? You can do it. Let's do it!"
Kate Winslet in the Avatar sequel plays Ronal, a member of the Metkayina aquatic clan, as well as the wife of the village leader. Ronal is pregnant, a character trait director James Cameron felt was essential for on-screen portrayal.
“Everyone is always talking about empowering women,” director James Cameron recently said in an interview with Variety. “But what is such an important part of a woman's life that we men don't experience? And I thought, 'Well, if you're really going to go all the way down the female empowerment rabbit hole, let's have a female warrior six months pregnant during battle.'"
Avatar: Running Water is currently in theaters worldwide.
