Tom Hardy lent Prince Harry his Mad Max costume for an evening incognito with Meghan Markle...

Prince Harry has recounted the time he showed up to a party dressed as Tom Hardy's character from Mad Max: Fury Road. Luckily it was a Halloween party. In his new memoir Spare, which was released on January 10, the Duke of Sussex details his last night out with then-still-engaged Meghan Markle, before their relationship was made public in the press.

The couple, who were in Toronto at the time, had spent the evening with a small group of close friends at an apocalyptic-themed Halloween event. Harry had telephoned a friend for help with his costume, that friend was none other than the actor Tom Hardy. The book reads: “For help with my costume I turned to a friend, the actor Tom Hardy, before leaving the house. I phoned him to ask if I could borrow his Mad Max costume. 'The whole thing?' 'Yeah please man! The whole kit!'” When Prince Harry tried on the Tom Hardy costume in front of Meghan, she "burst out laughing". Her reaction seems quite understandable to us.

The image of the duke is not at all similar to that of the crude Max Rockatansky, the protagonist of the George Miller saga. "It was fun. It's a little scary. But the most important thing was: I was unrecognizable,” he recalled. “Meg, meanwhile, was wearing ripped black shorts, a camo top, and fishnet stockings. If this is the apocalypse, it brings about the end of the world, I thought." Recalling showing up to the party in disguise, Harry wrote: 'The party was loud, dark, full of booze – ideal. Several people double-taped Meg as she walked through the rooms of the house, but no one paid any attention to us. I wish I could wear this disguise every day.”

The following day their relationship was made public, after which "everything changed forever". The duke explained how the couple had received a "tip" that their relationship could leak the following day: "We were informed, before we left for the Halloween apocalypse, that another apocalypse could come."
