It seems that Chris Hemsworth - the famous face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he plays Thor - is considering stepping away from the world of acting and lightening his workload after learning that he is at risk of developing the disease. Alzheimer's. The report comes from Page Six and claims that Hemsworth drastically reduced his workload after becoming fearful of Alzheimer's. The Hollywood star learned he was genetically predisposed to developing the disease during the production of his documentary series Limitless. Hemsworth later announced that he would take on fewer business assignments, but ruled out retiring altogether.
However, Page Six's industry sources say Chris Hemsworth's slate of future projects is small enough to suggest the star's career may be winding down. Since the actor has not yet provided further updates on his professional future, talk of his retirement from cinema is pure speculation for now. Should Hemsworth truly retire from acting, fans of him will still have plenty of chances to see the Australian actor on the big and small screens. The face of Thor has already wrapped principal photography on several upcoming films, including Netflix's action sequel Tyler Rake 2, arriving on June 16.
Chris Hemsworth will also appear in Furiosa, the highly anticipated spin-off prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road. His role in the post-apocalyptic blockbuster has yet to be revealed, however, the star recently revealed that he struggled to connect with his character during the lengthy pre-production period: "About two weeks into filming something finally clicked, but during pre-production – and I'm talking about a couple of years – I was scared shitless. I was afraid of ruining the franchise."
And what about Thor? Page Six's sources claim that Hemsworth will also take part in another film dedicated to the Marvel hero, although the project has not yet been officially announced by Marvel Studios (in the end credits of Thor: Love and Thunder there was only a little hint).
