The epic runtime of Martin Scorsese's new film Killers of the Flower Moon has been revealed. The eagerly awaited new film by the Oscar-winning director will have its world premiere in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival on May 20 and will arrive in cinemas on October 19, with 01 Distribution, simultaneously with the international release.

Scorsese's next film is based on David Grann's best-selling book of the same name and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, and Jesse Plemons. The story explores an FBI investigation into a series of murders that plagued the Osage Native tribe in Oklahoma during the 1920s after oil was found on their land.

According to Variety, the film will break a cinematic record, being Scorsese and DiCaprio's longest film. Scorsese's previous film, The Irishman, clocked in at three and a half hours, but Killers of the Flower Moon has been reported to hit four hours! Four hours of running time marks a first for the director and the celebrated Titanic star, but it's nothing new for De Niro. Once Upon a Time in America, Sergio Leone's 1972 gangster movie, lasts a good four hours and 11 minutes.

Killers of the Flower Moon – an Apple Studios, Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions, Appian Way production – sees in the star cast Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, and Tantoo Cardinal. Written by Martin Scorsese and Eric Roth (Dune, Forrest Gump), the film is based on the acclaimed bestseller by David Grann. Set in 1920s Oklahoma, it recounts a series of murders that occur among the Native American population in the Osage region, which is very rich in oil deposits. A sequence of brutal crimes, known as the "Reign of Terror".
