Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS2) Movie Analysis:
Though 'Ponniyin Selvan 1' was a big hit in Tamil Nadu, it did so poorly in Telugu. Countless characters on screen, more names for each character... all these did not let us concentrate on the story. But with a gap of about six months after the first part, the audience got an idea about the story. Director Mani Ratnam went into the story from the first scene of the second part.
Aditya Karikaludu and Nandini's childhood love story looks beautiful on screen. The first half is very racy between Ponniin Selvan's family's grief that he is dead, the plots of the enemies for the kingdom, and the Vandiya God in Sri Lanka, Ponniinselvan's efforts to save themselves.
But the second half will test the patience a bit. Mani Ratnam tries to create drama between the key characters in the story but it feels laggy and not effective. In the second half, the scene between Vikram and Aishwarya Rai came on the screen wonderfully. Also, the twists related to Nandini's character work out well. The battle scene at the end seems to have been put in because something had to be put in, but it is not crucial to the story. These war scenes cannot be seen at all with the eyes that saw the war scenes in Baahubali.
The quality of the visual effects is also not that good. Accordingly, there are very few wide-frame shots in the film. Close-up shots were given to the actors. Only background songs were used because the songs were thought to be speed breakers for the film. Only a small bit of the 'Aganande' song will be in the movie. The visuals for it are also amazing on the screen. AR Rahman's background score is impressive. Ravi Varman's camera work is amazing. Rs. Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS 2) Movie Actors Performance:
All of them are important roles but the scope of acting is only for the roles of Aditya Karikaludu and Nandini. Vikram and Aishwarya Rai gave life to these characters. Ponniin Selvan, Vandiya Godu, and Nandini's characters are crucial in the story but there are no emotional scenes for those characters. Both acted well in the love scene between Trisha and Karthi. All the other actors acted according to the scope of the roles.
Overall... 'Ponniyin Selvan 2' is definitely a better movie compared to the first part. But it would have been a better movie if it had concentrated more on the second half. Those who like historical and periodical movies will definitely not be disappointed.
