IMD Forecast Cyclone: India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast on Thursday, in which there is a possibility of a cyclonic storm. The IMD has said that a cyclonic storm is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal around December 3. However, its impact is unlikely to reach Odisha. IMD has said that the impact of the possible cyclone can be assessed only after pressure builds up in the sea on Friday.

IMD scientist Umashankar Das said, “The path and other parameters of the possible cyclone can be predicted only after the formation of the depression. So we have not said anything about the impact in Odisha or any other place on the coast.” He also clarified that there is no warning for the Odisha coast for the next four days. There is also no warning for fishermen off the Odisha coast, he said.

Meanwhile, the IMD said in a special bulletin that the low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining South Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards and lies over southeast Bay of Bengal. The weather agency said it is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression over the south-east Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

And will reach the coasts of North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh. It will intensify into a cyclonic storm around the morning of December 4.
