Damsel: The Stranger Things actress continues her collaboration with Netflix in this fantasy far from the classic fairy tales with princesses.
On the occasion of Geeked Week, a Netflix event in which the products, series, and films that will soon arrive on the platform are presented, the famous streaming platform has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Damsel, a film starring Millie Bobby Brown.
The project announced 3 years ago was supposed to be released in the last months of 2023, but with the SAG strike (which came to an end this week) it was postponed for a date not yet defined in 2024.
Damsel: the film will be released on the streaming platform in 2024
According to what was released by Netflix, Damsel follows the fate of a devoted damsel Elodie (Brown) who agrees to marry a charming prince, only to discover that the royal family wants to offer her as a sacrifice to pay off an ancient debt. Trapped in a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must use her cunning and stubbornness to survive.
Speaking about Brown, director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo said: “We are very lucky to have Millie. She has a very charismatic and bubbly personality. She has that quality that only stars have, which is that you can't take your eyes off her. Leu has this ability in the film, in a totally magical way, to take the viewer on this journey and take them on that kind of dark, intense, emotional adventure. She is the heart of the film.”
Damsel is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto Play or Die, Intruders) with a screenplay by Dan Mazeau (La furia de Titani, Fast X). The cast, however, is made up of Millie Bobby Brown, Angela Bassett, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Brooke Carter, and many others. The film is arriving on the streaming platform in 2024.
