The first trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the new chapter of the science fiction saga Planet of the Apes, has been officially released. Part of the reboot films, this new feature film will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024, and is the sequel to The War – Planet of the Apes. This new film takes place many years after the events told in that third film, released in 2017 and therefore Andy Serkis' Caesar is no longer the protagonist but several new characters are introduced.

The official synopsis for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes states: “Some groups of apes have never heard of Caesar, while others have twisted his teachings to build thriving empires. In this scenario, an ape leader begins to enslave other groups to find human technology, while another ape, who has seen his clan taken hostage, embarks on a journey to find freedom. A young human woman, meanwhile, becomes the key to the latter's search, even as she has plans of her own."

Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the epic franchise set several generations after Caesar's reign, where apes are the dominant species living in harmony and humans are forced to live in the shadows. As a tyrannical new ape leader builds his empire, a young ape embarks on a harrowing journey that will lead her to question everything she knows about the past and make choices that will define a future for both apes and humans.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (It), Freya Allan (The Witcher), Kevin Durand (Locke & Key), Peter Macon (Shameless), and William H Macy (Fargo). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds), Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (Avatar: Way of Water), and Patrick Aison (Prey), based on the characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver.
