20 percent of the employees in the world are suffering from mental problems like burnout. This has come out in a survey conducted on 30 thousand employees from 30 countries. Youths between 18 to 24 years are more prone to burnout.
The mental health of employees is deteriorating due to workload at the workplace. This has come to light in a survey conducted at the international level. It was found that an average of 20 percent of employees worldwide complain of burnout. In our country, this figure is higher than the world average.
Youth aged between 18 to 24 years are more victims of burnout: 30 thousand employees from 30 countries were included in this survey by McKinsey Health Institute. The survey also found that 18 to 24-year-old youth working in small companies are becoming more victims of burnout. Due to this, there is a loss of work, and financial loss may also be incurred.
What is burnout: American psychologist Herbert Freudenberg used the term ‘burnout’ in 1974. In a research paper named Staff Burnout, he said that burnout is a state of ‘chronic stress’. If work stress continues continuously, it can take the form of burnout in the future.
WHO considered burnout a serious disease: Considering the seriousness of burnout, in 2019 the World Health Organization gave it the status of a disease and also gave some symptoms to identify it. According to the World Health Organization, burnout is a condition that does not arise suddenly but increases gradually. A little everyday stress eventually takes the form of burnout.
