Captain Miller Movie Story:
During the 1930s, Agneeswara (Dhanush) lives in a village under British rule. Due to caste discrimination in his own village, Agneswara joins the army. In the army, he is called Miller. After completing his training there, he kills his superior during his first assignment. Then Agneeswara is helped by his fellow soldier Rafiq (Sandeep Kishan) to escape.
From there, Agneswara alias Miller becomes a thief. Why did Miller have to steal the idol from his village temple? How many consequences did it lead to? What are the roles of Bhanumathi (Priyanka Arul Mohan) and Agneeswara's sister Shivanna (Shivaraj Kumar) in this story? Whose idol is in the original temple? You have to watch the movie to know that.
Captain Miller Movie Analysis:
Tamil Nata director Arun Matheswaran has a unique image. Arun's specialty is hard-hitting storytelling mixed with gruesome violence. 'Captain Miller' is also a story with many layers. The first half of the movie is enough to show Agneeswara's life. But the real story does not begin for the interval. Arun took a lot of time, especially for the introduction of the characters. All the characters in the movie will be understood in the first shot. It's kind of good but feels a bit laggy.
Words are written very strongly in some scenes. When Agneeswara decides to join the army, the conversations between Sivanna and him are hard-hitting. Also, the scenes between Sandeep Kishan, Dhanush, and Abdul Lee after joining the army are impressive. After Dhanush runs away from the army, the story goes on smoothly till the interval. The film goes to the next level from the scene of the idol theft. The action scenes are also brilliantly shot. Arun Matheswaran has shown less violence compared to his previous films. Have you made the cut for the U/A certificate?
The idol theft scene during the interval, the huge action scene when Dhanush arrives at his village for the first time, and the grander fight sequences at Ktimemax are one above the other. A feast for action lovers right from the pre-interval. The scene where the British soldiers are tied to sticks and blown up in the trailer looks more effective on screen. That is one of the highlights of the movie.
'Captain Miller' is not just a story of violence. Arun tries to give a beautiful definition of what freedom is. "Now we are living under British rule. If they leave, we will live under the kings here. White teeth are better than these. They don't even let us wear sandals here. If you join the British army, you will be given shoes. They won't let us in here. There they sit next to each other and have a good meal. Dhanush's question is not Shivraj Kumar but the society.
Technically also 'Captain Miller' is very strong. The conditions of the 1930s are portrayed very authentically. Full credit goes to cinematographer Siddharth Nooni. Background music by GV Prakash Kumar is top-class. Elevated the action scenes to the next level. The production values are very good. TG Thyagarajan has spared no expense.
Captain Miller Movie Actors Performance:
Dhanush is no stranger to such roles. He has played roles with similar intensity in the past. It seemed that Priyanka Arul Mohan was not set for the role of Bhanumati. It seems to float in performance-oriented scenes. Sandeep Kishan's role as Rafiq is memorable despite his short length. It can be said that he had some career-best elevation shots in the climax.
Sandeep is likely to be seen in a full-length role in its sequel. So is Shivraj Kumar who appeared in the role of Shivanna. For a moment in the climax, he turns the entire audience towards him. Nivedita Sathish is a surprise package in this movie. His is a role that has scope for action as well as performance. She also took the character to the next level with her acting. All the other actors have done justice to their roles.
