‘Sivarapalli’ web series, a remake of the Hindi hit Panchayat, has been directed by Bhaskar Maurya. The first season of this web series, starring Rag Mayur, Rupa Lakshmi, Muralidhar Goud, Sunny Palle, Uday Gurrala, and Pavani Karanam in the lead roles, is streaming on Amazon Prime Video from January 24 with eight episodes. What is the series like?..
Sivarapalli Web Series Story:
Shyam (Raag Mayur) gets a job as the secretary of the 'Sivarapalli' panchayat. When all his friends are settling abroad, it bothers him that he has to go to the village. But, unable to disobey his father's words, he goes to that village in 'Telangana'. Sushila (Roopa Lakshmi) is the sarpanch of that village. However, her husband Sudhakar (Muralidhar Goud) handles all the related matters. They have a married daughter named 'Anu'.
Shyam lives in a room in the 'Sivarapalli' panchayat office. Naresh is his assistant. The atmosphere of that village... the way the village people behave annoys Shyam. He makes the necessary arrangements to go abroad as soon as possible... and reads books related to it. The lack of responsibility of the people there towards the government policies bothers him even more.
He is thinking of doing his own work.. studying.. and going abroad. But the things done by the Sarpanch.. and his assistant are giving him headaches. At the same time, the Sarpanch comes up with the idea of giving him his daughter 'Anu' and getting him married. What will Shyam do then? Will his attempt to go abroad be successful? Will he get married to the Sarpanch's daughter? These are the interesting aspects of the story.
Sivarapalli Web Series Analysis:
Shyam's hope.. idea is to go abroad and be happy there. But he is forced to become a 'Panchayat Secretary' and ends up in a village. He does not like the village lifestyle at all and tries to go abroad as soon as possible. In the meantime, the problems.. incidents he faces there are the story.
The story is centered around the 'Panchayat Office'. This story progresses with funny scenes, combining the uneducated people in the village.. their natures.. beliefs.. thoughts. The innocence of the people there.. goodness.. and sometimes disturbing ignorance.. all these are impressive in the way the director has revealed them.
'Sivarapalli'.. as per the title.. the main character is the village. This story revolves around the village. However, the way the story is told without compromising the naturalness, by giving priority to fewer characters, is pleasing. Even 8 episodes run without getting boring anywhere. The scenes that seem close to naturalness make you laugh.
Cast Performance:
Rag Mayur as the Panchayat Secretary.. Muralidhar Goud as the Sarpanch.. Rupalakshmi as his wife.. Uday Gurrala as the Deputy Sarpanch.. Sunny Palle as the Assistant to the Panchayat Secretary has done full justice to their roles. They have settled into their roles. The scenes are similar to those we see directly in a village, but it does not feel like we are watching them on screen.
The way director Bhaskar Maurya has presented this content in a way that is appropriate to the Telugu nativity is impressive. A village in the Telangana setting.. Telangana accent.. How the personalities are presented will connect with everyone. The conversations seem very natural.
Vasu Pendem's camera work is good. I like the way the locations in the village setting are revealed on the screen. I must say that Sinjith Erramilli's background music has become the highlight of this series. Sai Murali's editing seems neat. This can be said to be one of the best Telugu web series that has come out in recent times.
