Sookshmadarshini Movie Review: Nazriya Nazim's craze in Malayalam is not unknown. And Basil Joseph's image is no less. Against this backdrop, the combination of these two has made the film 'Sookshmadarshini' in the black comedy mystery thriller genre. The film hit the theaters on November 22nd. The film, which has earned up to 55 crores from theaters, is streaming on 'Hotstar' from the 10th of this month.
Sookshmadarshini Movie Story:
Priya (Nazriya) and Antony (Deepak) are husband and wife. Antony works in a company. Priya talks about her troubles and joys to her friends Steffy and Asma. Manuel (Basil Joseph), who left the village a long time ago, brings him back to the village because his mother's health is not good.
Priya and her family live in a rented house next to Manuel's. Manuel's house is clearly visible from Priya's window. Manuel tells the people there that his mother is suffering from Alzheimer's.
Occasionally, she leaves the house and Manuel finds out her whereabouts and brings her back. But Priya, who has been observing his mother's behavior, thinks that her mother is suffering from Alzheimer's is a lie. She also finds Manuel's behavior a bit suspicious.
Four days after Manuel said that her mother had disappeared, Priya saw his mother in the same house one night. When she asks Manuel about his mother the next day, he says that she has not yet found her.
With that, Priya starts to suspect. Manuel is doing something. The suspicion that something is happening in that house is strengthened. What will she do then? What consequences will she face as a result? What is actually happening in that house? This is the story.
Sukshmadarsini Movie Analysis:
This is a story set in a rural setting. Priya .. Manuel .. his mother .. this story revolves around these three main characters. The other characters come and go on screen depending on the context. This story cannot be divided into the first half or.. second half. The story starts slowly .. very fun .. simple and gets complicated as it goes on.
Usually, many people are curious to know what is happening next door. When such an attempt is being made .. the suspicion of the other family grows stronger, the way the director reveals it seems interesting. Basil Joseph has no need to say about the craze from the comedy side. But the way he is shown in this film seems new.
Usually, no one cares about what is happening in the cities. But in the villages, they are caught. While showing this matter in a fun and entertaining way, the director arouses suspense. Chinnaur .. O Bazaar .. The director has told this story very interestingly with limited characters. The director has succeeded in making the story and screenplay the main strength and keeping the audience engaged till the end.
Actors Performance:
Malayalam directors have a good skill in telling interesting stories on a low budget .. with few characters .. in one or two locations. It is clearly visible in this film too. Jithin's taking .. Atul Ramachandran - Libin's screenplay should be said to be the highlight of this film.
This story revolves around the character of Nazriya Nazim. She impresses with her performance. Basil Joseph has shown a new dimension in his acting with this role. Sharan Velayudhan's photography .. Christo Saviour's background music should be said to be two more pillars of this film. Chaman Chacko's editing is also okay.
Conclusion:
A proper script is important for any film. A film will appeal to the audience only when it has strong storytelling, character development, photography, and background music. Such films make it clear that what needs to be shown on screen is not the cost, but the story. 'Sookshmadarshini' can be seen as a film that falls into that category.
