Baapu Movie Review: The movie ‘Bapu’ starring senior actor Brahmaji in the lead role will be released this Friday. However, the makers have made the premieres with confidence in the content. And did their confidence come true? Or not? Let’s find out through this review..
Baapu Movie Story:
Mallaiah (Brahmaji) and his wife Saroja (Aamani) live off farming in a village in Telangana. They farm on their one-acre field but.. they don’t get proper money. The crops don’t ripen, and the crops that are ripened don’t get paid. Due to this, the whole village goes into debt. Due to this, the people in the village.. say to their faces that they won’t give loans anymore.
But when they say that there is a good demand for cotton.. and that they will repay the loans with that.. the people who gave them the loan give them a month. No, they also say that they will auction the field they have. And even then, did Mallaiah’s crop ripen? Or not? On the other hand, why is Mallaiah's family trying to kill Mallaiah's father (Sudhakar Reddy)? What did Mallaiah's father do when he came to know about this? The rest of the movie 'Bapu' answers these questions.
Bapu Movie Analysis:
The movie 'Balagam' came out in the backdrop of Telangana and in that backdrop of death. Many other movies were made with its inspiration. But none of them worked out. Now 'Bapu' has come out. If you think that this too will be as emotional as 'Balagam', you are wrong. The story has that scope but.. that core emotion is completely missing.
Dark humor is a new genre for the Telugu audience. But in other languages, it is a success formula. Director Dayakar Reddy should have fixed a genre for 'Bapu'. However, there is no dark humor, which means emotional drama. Thinking of mixing these two and entertaining the audience.. did not work out.
The hardships of the farmers were shown in the first half. But the back stories of the other characters seem to lag but.. they are not interesting. The fact that everyone in the house decides to kill the elder for the interval sequence.. increases the curiosity about the second half. But the comedy in the second half is not done in the right way. The climax that should be emotional also seems silly.
The original title of the film is ‘Bapu’… the hero calls his father Nayana but.. he does not call him ‘Bapu’ in Telangana style. The writing of the film can be said based on this one point. However, the run time is short.. Music director R.R.R. Dhruvan’s music is good.
Bapu Movie Actors Performance:
Brahmaji’s acting is nothing new. But it is new for him to play such a role. Therefore, the audience can engage with this character to some extent. For some reason, he seemed older than Brahmaji. This pair doesn't feel set for some reason.
After that, the role with the most scope is Sudhakar Reddy. He made me laugh in some places but.. the role is not emotionally connected. Maybe that is the director's fault. And if there are actors like Dhanya Balakrishna, Avasarala Srinivas, Gangavva, and Mani, then we should assume that they are there.. but their roles are not that connected.
Plus points:
Movie runtime
Interval episode
R.R.Dhruvan's music
Minus points:
Inability to deal with the second half properly
Screenplay..
Rating: 2/5
