Kingston Movie Review: Tamil star music director and actor G.I. Prakash is the movie ‘Kingston’ hero. In this movie, Divya Bharathi is the heroine, while Chetan Kadambi, Ajagan Perumal, Sabuman Abdusamad, and Elango Kumaravel play many important roles.
This movie was produced by GV Prakash under the banner of Parallel Universe Pictures and directed by Kamal Prakash. Kingston, which was made in Tamil, was also released in Telugu with dubbing today on March 7.
Kingston Movie Story:
In 1982, in a village on the seashore, a man named Bosayya (Ajagan Perumal) is killed and buried by the entire village. Since it is a spirit and scares the villagers, the corpse is thrown into the sea. Anyone who goes into the sea returns dead, so the village puts up a fence around the sea to prevent people from going fishing in that area.
When the villagers have no work, a rowdy named Thomas, who has left that village and settled in another city by the sea, gives them work. In 2025, Kingston (Jeevi Prakash Kumar) works for Thomas (Sabuman Abdusamad) for money. As Thomas told him, Kingston and his friends go into the sea and smuggle something illegally across the Sri Lankan border.
One day, a child dies when navy officers attack them at sea. When Kingston finds out that Thomas is supplying drugs to them, he turns on him and tells him that no one in his village will work for him anymore.
Kingston and his friend Thomas go to the closed sea to catch fish, believing that the villagers believe that there are no ghosts or spirits. Kingston's girlfriend Rose (Divya Bharathi) also goes on their ship.
And what kind of problems did they face after going to the sea? Are there ghosts or spirits there? Did they all come back? Why are all those who went to the sea dying? Why was Bosaiyya killed? Is Bosaiyya's spirit in the sea? To know what Thomas has to do with the village, you have to watch it on screen.
Kingston Movie Analysis:
The first half shows a story that happened in 1982 and shows the hero's character in the present, the hardships of the village, and the hero's work. As the hero goes to the sea to confront Thomas, the second half creates interest in whether the ghosts will be shown and what happens in the sea. The entire second half is about the sea. The adventures they all have in a boat in the sea, the ghosts, the spirits, and what is actually in the sea, are a horror thrilling experience.
In the promotions, Jeevi Prakash promoted it as a sea horror film and a fantasy film. With this, expectations were set for the film. However, all that is only in the second half. The entire first half is shown in the backdrop of a fishing village in Tamil Nadu.
The first half is boring. Although they scare something or two in the first half, they scare them well in the second half. The scenes in the sea are exciting. The scenes in the flashback are also interesting. Some of the twists given in the climax are well worked out.
However, there is a bit of confusion here and there as the Tamil characters, Tamil names, and the story goes back and forth. Jeevi Prakash said that he will make sequels to this film like a franchise. Whether he will make them or not remains to be seen in the future. As Jeevi said, it would have been better if that fantasy world and horror had lasted longer. It is noteworthy that this is Jeevi Prakash's 25th film as an actor.
Kingston Movie Actors Performance:
Jevi Prakash Kumar is known to be giving super hits as a music director on one side and making films as a hero on the other. He played a major role as a Tamil village boy well in this film. Divya Bharathi, who went viral with her beauty in the film Bachelor, was impressed with the role of a village girl in this film.
Chetan Kadambi acted well in two shades. Ajagan Perumal impresses in the role of Bosayya. Elango Kumaravel and Sabuman Abdusamad did not mind as Thomas did. The actors who played the roles of Kingston's friends and the rest of the actors impressed in their roles.
Technical aspects.. The cinematography and visuals are good. All the graphics scenes in the sea are pleasing. Jeevi Prakash also gave music to this film. Although he was scared by the background music, the songs did not work out in the Telugu dubbing.
The makeup team also worked well for the ghost setup. Although it is a regular point, the director wrote it well with an interesting story to tell in the sea. As a director, he did a good job of taking it. It seems that Jeevi Prakash has spent a lot of money on this film as a producer.
Overall, the movie ‘Kingston’ is a horror thriller with the adventures of the hero who goes to the sea to see what is going on with the spirits and ghosts that are terrorizing his village.
